Soon-coming Wedding Day
After an accepted marriage proposal this past March, my brother is preparing for his wedding, which is almost here! At the end of September, Jason and Tate will be tying the knot! I just attended Tate's wedding shower in Kentucky, and it was so well done. Of course, she did a beautiful job visiting with all her guests and paying special attention to and appreciation for each gift.
On my five hour drive home, I began reflecting on Tate and Jason's excitement for the wedding. I have heard it mentioned more than once that Tate has been planning and looking forward to her wedding day since... well, who knows when exactly. Like most brides, she wants the day to be perfect, memorable, beautiful, special, unique, and all the other adjectives you can possible think up. And she doesn't just hope that will happen, she is putting a lot of thought, planning, preparation, and heart into each choice and decision she makes. At this point, her life is pretty much consumed with the wedding. From the big things that are obvious and noticed by everyone, like the venue,dress, and guest list, to the details that are dear to her and Jason, like special notes or personal planning, it's all important and all wonderful. The climatic moment of it all will be when she walks down the isle and meets her bridegroom.
While she dreams of all things "wedding," Jason has been hard at work selling his home, buying their new home, taking care of legalities, doing handy-man work on the house to make it ready, making time to give Tate special and thoughtful gifts, and helping her in the wedding preparations. While she prepares to be with Him, he has been preparing a place for them to be together forever.
For followers of Christ, it's starting to sound like Scripture, isn't it?...
I wonder if we are as consumed with, excited for, and preparing to meet our Bridegroom who is preparing a place for us and who has sacrificed His very life so that we can be with Him, and who cares about us now, loves us, and gives us wonderful gifts. Seeing Jesus face-to-face and being with Him for eternity is our ultimate, personal goal. I hope that just as Jason and Tate protect their relationship and do everything in their power to not let anything taint it, we are each protecting our relationship with Christ and doing everything we can to be spotless and beautiful when we see Him.
I hope we are so in love with our Savior and Lord that our devotion and love and joy are solely directed toward Him, and we never lose sight of our soon-coming wedding day.

A great encouragement for "pressing forward", having our focus on that wonderful day when we sit at the table with Jesus...I know that I can't even fathom what it will be like, but He is so awesome, it will be glorious!
