Passionate Youth Convention

If there is anywhere that I most love to worship God, it is with sold-out Christian young people! They are the ones, on the whole, who seem to really understand what it is to worship God - setting aside self, opening their hearts, letting go, being transparent, glorifying God with everything.

I was blessed to experience this worship at our Regional Youth Convention held May 5&6, 2006. Our young people supported this event by packing the house and coming ready to receive something great from God. We planned and directed the event, but the youth are the ones that made it successful. We planned the weekend to be all about the youth, but they came to make it all about God.

BrokenBox led worship Friday evening and gave a concert that night. They did an incredible job as they ushered us into God's presence and set an example in worship and obedience to the Holy Spirit. Pastor Keith Wysong, from Springfield, Ohio, was the guest speaker. He hit home on both days as He brought God's Word right where it was needed. Saturday was packed with God's power, as we experienced intense worship lead by Misty Kurtzman from Willard, Ohio and the talent that she organized. All this was followed by anointed special music from the Willard Spanish youth and then informative classes for everyone from youth to youth workers to parents.

The event can be summed up in one word - "Passion". The theme of the weekend was "The Passion of the Christian," and we truly saw it not only in the worship, but also in the changes experienced during the prayer time. Salvation, baptism of the Holy Spirit, and deeper walks with the Lord are what made this convention a success to us and a sweet savor to Almighty God.
